Training

Training and behaviour are often confused and thought to be the same thing when in reality they are very different.

Training includes commands (sit, stay, come, lay) walking at heel on a lead, recall training, jumping up, and so forth. Behaviour is essentially the way the dog conducts itself and traits that are not desirable. It includes things such as human and dog aggression, anxiety, and reactivity which requires more in-depth training.

Ensuring a dog is trained is vital, as it can prevent them from getting into dangerous situations, as well as knowing how to interact and approach both other dogs and humans.

You will find that many dogs actually like training sessions as it is a form of mental enrichment which can tire a dog out as much as completing a walk. Nearly all dog breeds want to please their owner, so having small training sessions allows you to gain control over your dog and also gives the dog a sense of satisfaction. There will be many training methods we go through with you and your dog to find the one that they respond to best and that works best for you, as I know one size doesn’t always fit all.

Firstly there will be an initial consultation at a charge of £50 which will last 1 hour – 1 hour 30 mins, where we will go through everything that needs to be worked on and then get started. Further follow up training sessions are £30 per hour. After the initial consultation, you will receive a training guide that will include everything we have discussed and what your next steps will be.

Three training sessions (plus the consultation session) booked in advance – £120.

It is important that where possible all family members are present for the consultation. This is because all family members need to carry out the training that is being implemented, there needs to be complete consistency.

about eleanor

Hi, I am Eleanor and I run Walk With Me Dog Training. I have had a love and passion for all creatures, great and small, from an early age. I am here to offer a number of services to assist you with the hands-on care of your best friends. I offer a professional and empathetic approach, taking into account each animal’s specific needs.

meet and greet

I understand how incredibly daunting it can be for any animal to get used to a new person. Therefore, before your dog's first walk, I offer a free meet and greet service so your dog can get used to me and we can go through all your requirements as an owner. Every walk is tailored to each individual animal's needs.

fees

My fees are competitive and variable depending on the amount of time spent with your pet, the service required, and the location of your property. Please see my full price list which covers the whole of the Tendring area. You can also read through my full terms and conditions.

Dog Owner Reviews

“We have two Labradors that are not the best behaved and have been using Eleanor to walk them when we are at work or busy. Our dogs love going out for walkies with Eleanor, as she always makes a fuss of them and mixes up the routes to keep them stimulated. She is very reliable and responsible and is confident in managing our dogs’ difficult behaviours. Eleanor’s pupdates and pictures provide an anxious dog mum the reassurance she needs.”

Cheryl Pilling

“My dog adores Eleanor and I have got full faith that she will take good care of him. She is very thoughtful and considerate and I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing help with their four-legged friend.”

Clem

“Thanks so much, it is so nice to know I can leave them and have someone I trust to come and visit them.”
